The Capitol Cup
Nakoma Golf Club against Maple Bluff Country Club, once a year, every year since 2010. It started as four guys a side. It's twenty-six now.
Morning doubles, afternoon singles, match play throughout. The losing club spends twelve months hearing about it.
By Year
Results, awards, rosters and photos, one year at a time.
Past years get their own pages as photos and scorecards turn up. If you have either, send them along.
The Record
Seventeen playings. Home clubs are 13–2, there have been exactly two road wins, and the field has grown from four a side to twenty-six.
How It’s Played
Shotgun start. Some groups go off the front, some off the back, since we're playing different formats on each nine.
Morning · Front Nine
2-man best ball. Play off 100% of the low man's handicap.
Morning · Back Nine
2-man modified alternate shot. Handicap is 60% of the low man plus 40% of the high man, played off the low team. Each player must use 2 drives.
Points: 1 for winning a hole, half a point for halving it, zero for losing it. 3 points available per match (front, back, total). At a 26-a-side field that is 39 points in the morning.
Afternoon · Singles
Front nine only. Singles matches, best ball play. 1 point per match, played off the low guy in each match. One point per player in the afternoon, so 26 more.
65 points on the day at the current field size. The holder keeps the Cup on a tie, so the challenger needs a half point more to take it.

Notes
Handicap indexes lock the Sunday before. Apparel and sizing are managed separately by each team's leadership.
